Make Your Own Baby Shower Invitations

You can make your own babyshower invitations that set the scene for your perfect baby shower.

One really fun way is to use a baby footprint for the front of the invitation. You can search for clip art online, use a stamp, use a real baby or draw your own. If drawing your own, the best way is to make a template from card, thus, enabling you to quickly draw around the shape.

Stamping is now a very popular craft. You can purchase baby footprint stamps of varying sizes from your local craft store or on-line. You can create a baby footprint border or stamp the footprint in the middle of the invitation.

Also try experimenting with colours! It doesn't always have to be pink for girls or blue for boys. I have used a stunning jade colour card for a boy with gold footprints which worked well. Yellow or lilac for example is appropriate for both.

Another idea is to use small footprint stamps and create a scrapbook type of background. Stamp some gold footprints on a plain piece of card, trim to size and centre in the middle.

Embossing is where the baby footprint is raised from the page. A baby footprint embossed onto some textured hand made paper looks very stylish. You can purchase embossing powder in your local craft store. Instructions are always included. The powder is available in all colours, but I prefer to use gold or silver.

Scrapbook embellishments are also available to use. I have purchased some stick-on baby footprints that create the perfect effect and look quite like embossed footprints. Or use a hand punch to punch out footprint shapes from handmade paper or card.
