Addressing The Inner and Outer Envelope



Not sure how to address wedding invitations.

The majority of wedding invitations have two separate envelopes, the outer envelope and the inner envelope, which contains the actual invitations. Here are some guidelines to addressing them:

To a married couple

Outer: Mr. and Mrs. Steven Gerard Peacock
Inner: Mr.and Mrs. Peacock

To a married couple who have children under eighteen

Outer: Mr. and Mrs. Steven Gerard Peacock
Inner: Mr. and Mrs. Peacock
Emily and Matthew

To a single man

Outer: Mr. Steven Peacock
Inner: Mr. Peacock

To a single man or woman and guest

Outer: Mr. Steven Peacock
Inner: Mr. Peacock and Guest

To a widow, or a separate woman

Outer: Mrs. Stephen Gerard Peacock
Inner: Mrs. Peacock

To a single woman

Outer: Miss (or Ms.) Emily Peacock
Inner: Miss (or Ms.) Peacock
