When To Send Wedding Invitations

Don't panic about as to when to send wedding invitations. There is no set rule but a few things you need to consider.

I was organising my wedding from abroad and because a large number of the wedding party were flying over to the UK for the wedding, I sent out my invitations slightly earlier.

Traditionally wedding invitations are sent out 3 months in advance. This will give your guests enough time to book accommodation and make any travel plans. This amount of notice is especially important if your wedding falls during peak holiday season. Close friends and family will already be aware of the date and have it circled on their calendar.

It is important to enclose an RSVP date on your invitation. Make sure this date allows you enough time to plan your catering and seating arrangements. I set my RSVP date 4-5 weeks before the wedding, but again 3 weeks would be plenty. This will also allow time for you to follow up with anyone who has not replied or to arrange any specific dietary requirements.
